Mini Book Fair Kigali – A Pilot Program

Hamdi Ali, Somaliland

As a representative of the Hargeysa International Book Fair, Hamdi created a knowledge exchange program in Kigali around the themes of books, publishing and storytelling. She worked with the Impact Hub Kigali team to create a mini book fair as a pilot program for a potentially larger book fair in the future.

The result was an engaging evening program made up of keynote talks, moderated panel discussions, a project marketplace section with digital media project presentations, bookstalls by local publishing houses displaying their publications and a final traditional dance performance by local Rwandese dancers. As a direct consequence of the Kigali event and the relations established through the process, Rwanda has been selected as guest country of the 2018 Hargeysa International Book Fair in Somaliland.
